Attempted murder charge laid after alleged car attack

A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly being struck by a Toyota Landcruiser in a unit complex carpark on Chestnut St in Wynnum, Brisbane's East, about 12.10pm on Sunday. The victim suffered serious head injuries, and the Landcruiser fled the scene. A 29-year-old man was arrested about 1pm on Coolanna St in Lota, approximately 4km south. Police allege the pair are known to each other, and that the younger man avoided being hit twice before the third attempt. He faces one count each of DV attempted murder and dangerous driving, and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Pedestrians run for their lives amid wild SUV rampage

Wild footage has emerged of an SUV being driven erratically and narrowly missing pedestrians on the Gold Coast. The car was seen weaving through standstill traffic and driving into opposing lanes in Coolangatta on Sunday. Footage shows pedestrians fleeing or running toward the SUV in an attempt to stop it. The driver was arrested soon after and is expected to be charged.

Man allegedly knocked out by teens

A 49-year-old man has allegedly been knocked unconscious by two teens while on a bus in NSW's Hunter region. The man reportedly argued with a group who boarded the bus around midday on Saturday. As they exited, the group allegedly attacked him, leaving him with head and face injuries. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment. Police later located and arrested nine youths at a fast food chain in Belmont, releasing seven amid ongoing investigations. The remaining two, boys aged 13 and 15, were charged with assault.
