A woman has tragically lost her life after two cars collided on the Hume Highway at Manton, south of Sydney, on Tuesday afternoon.
Crash details
Emergency services were called to the scene near the intersection with Old Hume Highway around 2:30 pm following reports of a serious collision. Paramedics treated the woman at the scene, but she could not be revived and was pronounced dead.
The other driver, a man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing and is assisting police with their inquiries. No other injuries were reported.
Investigation underway
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are examining the scene and are appealing for any witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward. The Hume Highway was closed in both directions for several hours, causing significant delays, but has since reopened.
