Drone Footage Reveals Inside Look at Cop Killer's Shipping Container Hideout
New vision has emerged from inside the shipping container where Dezi Freeman was hiding before police swooped and shot him dead. A YouTuber claims his drone crashed on the Thologolong property and he took the video when he went to retrieve it, providing a close-up look at the police killer's life on the run.
Squalid Conditions and Personal Items Left Behind
The footage shows how the fugitive had been hiding in squalid conditions after shooting dead two police officers in Porepunkah last year. Bullet holes can be seen on the side of a boat from the moment police swooped and opened fire on Freeman in late March.
The video also reveals personal items left behind, including sunglasses and clothes scattered throughout the container. There are signs of how Freeman was living, with a battery set-up, camp chairs, and a heater visible in the makeshift hideout.
YouTuber's Account of the Scene
The YouTuber described the overwhelming smell of chemicals used by police during the operation to flush Freeman out of the container. The rural property, located about 200km northeast of Porepunkah, is owned by a local resident.
There is no evidence to suggest they knew of Freeman's presence at the site. The video provides a chilling glimpse into the final days of a man who was on the run for months after committing the deadly shootings.
Background of the Case
Dezi Freeman became one of Australia's most wanted fugitives after the Porepunkah police shootings. The new drone footage adds a visceral dimension to the story, showing the stark reality of his hiding place.
Authorities had been searching for Freeman for months before the confrontation at the Thologolong property. The video serves as a haunting reminder of the violent end to that manhunt.
