The 2026 Toyota Good for Footy Raffle has officially launched, giving grassroots AFL clubs across Australia a powerful fundraising tool. Last year, 837 clubs collectively raised $1.17 million through the initiative, which has generated over $12.6 million since its inception in 2008.
How the Raffle Works
The program is designed to be hassle-free for clubs. There are no costs to register, no need to organize prizes, and no follow-up required for winners. Toyota provides a prize pool of 46 items worth more than $250,000, including three new cars, along with promotional support. Clubs sell tickets at $5 each and keep 100% of the proceeds from their sales. Funds can be used for any club need, such as equipment, uniforms, registration fees, clubroom maintenance, or training courses.
Stronger Clubs and Communities
Clubs of all sizes, along with associated netball clubs, have benefited significantly. The Warragul Industrials Football Netball Club, known as the Dusties, has raised over $50,000 annually for three years. Club president Daniel Hilton attributed the expansion of their teams to the raffle: "We never had a junior football club - under eights, 10s, twelves and fourteens - and we've added two extra female football teams - the 14s and 16s."
Easing Financial Pressure
At the Collingullie-Wagga Demons, funds have covered equipment like pallet racking and shelving, upgrades to women's change rooms and the canteen, and a history room. Elissa Bent noted the club earns about $8,000 each year from the raffle: "A lot of our money comes from big events, but the Toyota raffle really helps - we don't run another raffle because Good for Footy is so easy. People are really happy to buy tickets, especially when we say we get all the money raised."
The Queanbeyan Tigers have used QR codes to simplify ticket sales. General manager Kane Cawse explained: "I printed everyone's QR code, laminated it and gave it to them on game day and said, 'Keep this in your pocket and show your friends'. It definitely eases a lot of pressure in trying to fundraise elsewhere, and make sure the money is there to pay the bills."
