Sharks Drop Out of Top Four After Demons Loss in WANL

Fremantle Sharks have slipped out of the WA Netball League top four after a 56-51 loss to ladder leaders Southside Demons in a see-sawing round 11 clash.

Demons Dominate After Early Sharks Control

The Sharks controlled the early stages of the opening term before the Demons took charge in the second. Hayley Evans starred in defence for the Demons with several outstanding intercepts. Fremantle pushed hard in the final term but could not pull back the deficit, with Kathryn Byrne scoring 23 goals. Meg Gallagher was exceptional for the Demons, netting 36 goals.

Comets Crush Rangers to Return to Top Four

Reigning premiers Comets returned to the top four with a crushing 70-38 victory over the winless Rangers. The Comets came out of the gates swinging, scoring 19 goals to eight in the first quarter. Aitua Enari was once again impressive with 48 goals, alongside Sloan Burton who contributed 17. Emily Cramond stepped up for Rangers with 20 goals, while Myra Ugle continued her form with 14.

Western Roar Hold Second Spot with Big Win

Western Roar maintained their grip on second spot with a big 60-32 win over the Souwest Jets. The Roar shared the load between Sophia Lamers (35 goals), Asha Parsons (13) and Mia Burton (12). They were also boosted by the return of West Coast Fever 11th player Caitlyn Brown in goal defence. The Jets could not back up their second win of the season from last week, but 21/U athlete Lily Knight did her best with 19 goals.

Warriors Cruise Past Lightning

West Coast Warriors jumped out to an early lead against Peel Lightning, ahead 20-11 at quarter-time and 38-16 at half-time, before cruising to a 63-35 victory. Goal shooter Zoe Harper was outstanding, converting difficult opportunities and remaining a constant threat in the circle on her way to 38 goals for the game. The defence won rebounds and intercepted passes to limit Lightning’s scoring chances.

Men's Competition: Roar Open Up Four-Point Gap

In the men’s competition, Western Roar have opened up a four-point gap at the top of the table after a 59-43 win over second-placed Warriors. Competition for the remaining finals spots remains hot, with Comets defeating the Lightning 61-49 and Rangers beating the Demons 63-48.
