Australia produced a dominant performance to crush the West Indies by 10 wickets in the semi-final of the Women's T20 World Cup, securing their place in the final with a clinical display at the Dubai International Stadium.
Clinical Bowling Sets Up Easy Chase
After winning the toss and electing to field, Australia's bowlers tore through the West Indies batting lineup, restricting them to a paltry 85 for 9 in their 20 overs. Left-arm spinner Jess Jonassen was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3 for 15, while Megan Schutt and Darcie Brown took two wickets each.
The West Indies never recovered from the early loss of opener Hayley Matthews, who was caught behind off Schutt for a duck. Captain Stafanie Taylor top-scored with 27, but found little support as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Openers Finish Job in Style
Chasing a modest target, Australia's openers Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney made light work of the run chase, finishing the game in just 10.2 overs. Healy remained unbeaten on 42 off 31 balls, while Mooney was not out on 41 off 33 deliveries.
According to Australia captain Meg Lanning, the team was pleased with the all-round performance. "We knew the West Indies would be tough, but our bowlers set it up nicely. Jess Jonassen was outstanding, and the openers finished it off beautifully. We are looking forward to the final," she said.
Final Awaits
Australia will now face the winner of the other semi-final between England and South Africa in the final on Sunday. The defending champions have now won 10 consecutive matches in the tournament, making them strong favorites to retain their title.
