Pinjarra FC Celebrates 110 Years of Football and Community
Pinjarra FC Marks 110 Years of Football History

The Pinjarra Football and Netball Club is preparing for a monumental celebration, marking 110 years of sporting excellence and community spirit this November.

A Century of Community and Competition

With a history dating back to its first meeting at the Exchange Hotel in 1915, the club has been a cornerstone of the local area. Club President Bron May emphasises that for over a century, the club has provided more than just a field to play on; it has fostered a profound sense of belonging and forged lifelong friendships for its members.

The official 110-year anniversary event is set for November 22 and will be a grand reunion, bringing together past players, dedicated supporters, and special guests. Remarkably, some attendees will have connections to the club stretching all the way back to the 1930s.

Celebrating Tiger Triumphs and Legends

The club's storied past is filled with highlights. President Bron May recalls the incredible 1986 season as a standout, when Pinjarra achieved a rare clean sweep by winning the colts, reserves, and league premierships all in one year.

Another monumental achievement was the construction of the club's own rooms, a project fuelled by extensive fundraising and the sheer hard work of committees and players over the years. The club has also been recognised for its off-field initiatives, winning a 2025 WA Sports Award in the healthy club category for its outstanding work in mental health.

"Our club is a big supporter of mental health," Mr May said. "We started a mental health round in 2017, which we play every year against Waroona, fundraising for local charities." He also highlighted the success of the Tiger Cubs program, which in 2025 begins its fourth season with over 200 children aged two to eight participating.

Honouring a Local Hero and Calling for Memories

Among the club's most cherished legends is life member Bill 'Cookie' Cooke, who famously made his playing debut for the Tigers at the age of 75. A massive supporter, Cookie, along with his mate Kevin 'Shorty' Hennessy, raised millions for the club through initiatives like selling copper wires and founding a supporters club, literally helping to build the club's home from the ground up.

As part of the celebrations, the club is issuing a public call for anyone with stories or memorabilia from its long history to come forward. Past players, coaches, and club presidents are also warmly invited to share their memories at the event.

Tickets for the anniversary celebration are $80, with doors opening at 4.30pm at the Pinjarra Football Club. Those interested in purchasing tickets or sharing historical information can contact Krystal on 0439 270 449, Stephen Martin on 0400 872 921, or Paul Galloway on 0428 311 976.
