The Perth Scorchers are banking on their international firepower to light up the Women's Big Bash League this season, with homegrown talent Mikayla Hinkley tipping overseas stars Sophie Devine and Amy Jones to make a massive impact.
Hinkley, who's coming off a career-best WBBL campaign, believes the Scorchers' international recruits bring exactly what the team needs to go all the way in the competition.
International Experience Proving Invaluable
"They've been absolutely brilliant," Hinkley gushed about the team's overseas contingent. "Having Soph and Amy around has been awesome for our group. They bring so much experience and knowledge that they're happy to share with all of us."
The 23-year-old Western Australian product highlighted how Devine's explosive batting and Jones's wicketkeeping expertise have already elevated the team's training sessions and tactical discussions.
Building on Last Season's Momentum
After posting her strongest WBBL performance to date in the previous season, Hinkley is feeling confident about the Scorchers' prospects. The right-handed batter emphasised that the team environment feels particularly strong this year, with players pushing each other to improve every day.
"We've got a really good mix of experience and youth," she noted. "The energy around the group is fantastic, and everyone is really buying into what we're trying to achieve this season."
