The Perth Scorchers have put the finishing touches on their squad for the upcoming Big Bash League season, with Victorian paceman Brody Couch announced as their final domestic signing.
The 24-year-old quick joins the Western Australian powerhouse after spending the past four seasons with the Melbourne Stars, where he developed a reputation as a reliable death bowler. Couch brings valuable BBL experience to the Scorchers' bowling arsenal, having taken 24 wickets across his 30 appearances in the competition.
Building on Championship Pedigree
The Scorchers, who hold the record for most BBL titles with five championships, have strategically bolstered their pace attack with this acquisition. Couch's ability to bowl under pressure in the crucial final overs adds another dimension to what was already one of the competition's most formidable bowling lineups.
Scorchers coach and former Australian fast bowler Adam Voges expressed his enthusiasm about the new signing. "Brody brings some great skills to our group, particularly at the back end of the innings," Voges said. "He's shown he can perform under pressure in the BBL, and we're excited to see how he develops in our environment."
Joining an Elite Pace Battery
Couch will train alongside and potentially play with some of Australia's finest fast bowlers, including Jhye Richardson, Jason Behrendorff, and Lance Morris. This presents a golden opportunity for the young Victorian to refine his craft under the guidance of experienced campaigners.
