Dom Young produced a stunning hat-trick performance as the Newcastle Knights secured a dramatic 28-24 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in the NRL Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night.
The Knights winger crossed for three tries, including a crucial 75th-minute effort that sealed the win for Newcastle, who had trailed by 10 points early in the second half.
Young's Hat-Trick Heroics
Young opened the scoring in the 12th minute, finishing off a slick backline movement to give the Knights an early lead. The Bulldogs hit back through tries from Josh Addo-Carr and Matt Burton to take a 12-6 advantage at halftime.
After the break, the Knights regained the lead through a Kalyn Ponga try, but the Bulldogs responded with two quick tries to go up 24-14. However, Young sparked a Newcastle revival with his second try in the 58th minute, and then completed his hat-trick with a brilliant solo effort, stepping past several defenders to score the match-winner.

Newcastle coach Adam O'Brien praised his team's character after the come-from-behind victory. "We showed great resilience to stay in the fight and keep believing," O'Brien said. "Dom was outstanding tonight, but it was a real team effort."
The win moves the Knights into the top eight, while the Bulldogs are left to rue a missed opportunity after leading for much of the second half.
