Tennis fans in Western Australia are in for a spectacular opportunity this weekend as Perth's own Olympic gold medallist and grand slam champion, Matt Ebden, prepares to host an exclusive masterclass in the coastal town of Dunsborough.
A Champion's Return to the South West
This marks the second consecutive year that the celebrated athlete will make the journey to the Dunsborough & Districts Country Club. The event, officially dubbed The Taste of Wimbledon masterclass, is scheduled for November 30 and is being hosted by Millman Tennis.
Brad Millman, the head tennis professional at the country club, shared a powerful anecdote from last year's event that underscores its profound impact. "There was a moment last year that gave me goosebumps," Millman recalled. "A 14-year-old asked the question 'when did you decide that you wanted to train hard' and Matt said 'I started at your age right now.' The whole room just felt that this boy had been inspired to fulfil a dream that maybe he wasn't thinking he was ready for. This experience can do a lot of things for the young kids."
What to Expect at the Masterclass
Organisers are anticipating a strong turnout of around 100 people for the afternoon and evening session, which will run from 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
The program is packed with activities designed to engage and inspire participants of all ages. Attendees will receive invaluable on-court guidance directly from Ebden, who will draw upon his vast experience as a three-time grand slam champion and former World No.1 player.
Beyond the coaching, the event will feature several highlights including:
- A live auction of signed memorabilia
- Autograph and photo sessions with Matt Ebden
- A one-on-one interview and Q&A with the Olympian
- A community barbecue
