Mandurah kite surfer search called off

Large-Scale Search Launched for Kite Surfer

Emergency services initiated a major multi-agency operation off the Mandurah coast on Monday evening after receiving reports of a kite surfer potentially in difficulty. The alarm was raised with police at approximately 6:35 PM, sparking immediate concern for the individual's welfare.

Air, Sea, and Land Scour

The search effort was comprehensive, covering coastal areas near Wannanup, Falcon, and Halls Head. A police helicopter scanned the region from the air, while water police and marine rescue vessels combed the waters. Teams on the ground also conducted thorough checks of local beaches for any signs of the surfer or their equipment.

No Trace Found, Search Concluded

Despite the extensive efforts, authorities were unable to locate any evidence of a person in distress. A police spokeswoman confirmed that no kiteboard, kite, clothing, or personal belongings were found. Crucially, there has been no missing person reported in connection with the incident. Investigators now believe that if a kite surfer was indeed in trouble, they managed to return to shore safely. Based on this assessment, the search was officially stood down.
