Kaleidoscope @ the Quay: Perth's Waterfront Lights Up with Music and Art
This Saturday evening, Elizabeth Quay in Perth will transform into a vibrant hub of entertainment as the inaugural Kaleidoscope @ the Quay event takes over the popular CBD precinct. Running from 5pm to 9pm, this free community festival promises a spectacular fusion of light, music, and culture designed to captivate audiences of all ages.
A Symphony of Light and Sound
The centrepiece of the event is Accordion, a groundbreaking light installation making its Western Australian debut. Created by the internationally acclaimed studio Amigo & Amigo, this large-scale artwork features six accordion-inspired archways that dynamically respond to human movement, creating a mesmerising display of light, colour, and melody.
MC Christina Morrissy highlighted the interactive nature of the installation, stating, "As you move through the glowing archways, the artwork responds with light and sound, so you're not just watching it, you're part of it." This innovative piece will illuminate Elizabeth Quay nightly from 6pm to midnight until February 22, offering ongoing visual delight for locals and visitors alike.
Floating Stage and Musical Performances
Adding to the festival's allure, live music will resonate across the water from a unique floating stage. The lineup includes talented acts such as PROOF The Band, FELIX, Boox Kid, and rising star Gisella Colletti. Colletti, who gained national recognition with a top 3 finish on Australian Idol last year, expressed her excitement about performing at this iconic location.
The 17-year-old Perth native said, "I love performing in Perth because obviously, I was born here and there's so much about Perth that has changed, and it's become so beautiful, especially Elizabeth Quay." She added, "The thought of performing on a floating stage is kind of unreal, because I've never really done that before, so it's definitely something that I'm very excited about." Colletti will showcase her new single Good Enough to a supportive local crowd.
Family-Friendly Activities and Cultural Highlights
Beyond the main attractions, Kaleidoscope @ the Quay offers a diverse range of activities to engage families and art enthusiasts. Attendees can enjoy:
- Water-themed activities and roaming acrobats
- Food trucks and waterfront dining options
- A Jazz Parade featuring award-winning musicians Adam Hall & The Velvet Playboys
- An outdoor art spectacle from Perth Plain Air Painters
- An 80-metre illuminated Disco on the Bridge dance space
Morrissy praised DevelopmentWA for "bringing world-class public art into spaces where everyone can engage with it," emphasising the event's accessibility and community focus. With its blend of innovative technology, local talent, and interactive experiences, this event is set to unlock the full entertainment potential of Elizabeth Quay, creating lasting memories for all who attend.
