Two teenagers have been accused of a violent attempted car theft involving a woman and child. The 17-year-old boys have been charged after a man and woman were assaulted during an alleged attempted vehicle theft at Surfers Paradise in Queensland.

Police say the incident unfolded just after 6pm on Friday, when a 42-year-old man was standing outside his white Jeep Grand Cherokee on Laycock Street when a juvenile allegedly climbed into the driver’s seat and tried to start the vehicle.

A 60-year-old woman and a child were inside the Jeep at the time. The man allegedly pulled the teen from the vehicle, sparking a physical struggle. A second juvenile and a second victim — a 36-year-old woman — also became involved.
