Woolworths has announced a price freeze on 300 popular items for the next three months, aiming to provide relief to households grappling with rising petrol prices, interest rates, and global uncertainty stemming from the Middle East conflict.
Price freeze details
The supermarket giant confirmed on Tuesday that it would maintain the shelf price of these products until the end of the period. Chief executive Amanda Bardwell communicated the decision in an email to customers, acknowledging the financial strain many are experiencing.
“We know many of you are concerned about the impact of fuel prices, interest rates and global uncertainty on your household budget,” Bardwell said.
Fresh produce and meat
The full list of items includes fresh fruit and vegetables such as carrots, onions, potatoes, spinach, pears, and apples. Prices range from $2.40 per kilogram for carrots to $4.90 per kilogram for Royal Gala Apples.
In the meat section, chicken drumsticks, wings, sausages, eggs, bacon, and whole roast chickens are price-frozen. Chicken breast fillets will see a 25 per cent reduction. A two-kilogram bag of chicken wings will cost $9.50, while two kilograms of drumsticks are priced at $8.

The full list of 300 items is available on the Woolworths website.
Investment to absorb costs
Woolworths stated it is investing to absorb extra costs from farmers and suppliers resulting from the Middle East conflict's impact on fuel, fertiliser, and production costs. “We’re investing to absorb extra costs that are agreed with Aussie farmers and suppliers on these products as a result of the impacts of the Middle East conflict on fuel, fertiliser and production costs, so you won’t have to pay more for these items at the checkout,” Bardwell added.
The price freeze items are additional to the value provided through thousands of weekly specials, Everyday Rewards, and more than 4000 products on Everyday Low Price and Lower Shelf Price.
