Woman Faces Court Over Alleged E-Bike Incident

A 23-year-old woman from Belmont North has formally pleaded not guilty to a series of serious driving charges after she was accused of attempting to run down a teenage boy on an e-bike in the Lake Macquarie suburb of Redhead.

Kiara Crystal Keogh appeared in Belmont Local Court last week, where she entered her plea regarding the incident alleged to have occurred on November 12, 2025. The court has adjourned the matter until next year to set a date for a hearing.

The Alleged Hit-and-Run in Elsdon Street

According to police facts presented to the court, emergency services were called to Elsdon Street at Redhead at approximately 5pm on November 12 following reports of a crash.

Officers were told that a woman had allegedly driven her car directly towards a 14-year-old boy who was riding an e-bike. In a swift move to avoid being struck, the teenager managed to jump from his bike. While he escaped direct impact with the vehicle, the car subsequently collided with the unattended e-bike.

The vehicle then allegedly dragged the electric bicycle for about 30 metres, an action that left the bike extensively damaged. The 14-year-old boy sustained minor injuries in the ordeal, including lacerations and bruising.

Police allege that the driver failed to stop at the scene, prompting an investigation to locate both the woman and the vehicle involved.

Arrest and Bail Conditions

Following their inquiries, police attended a home in Belmont North about 9.30pm on the night of the incident, where they arrested Ms Keogh.

She was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with multiple offences. The charges include predatory driving, causing bodily harm by misconduct in charge of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to stop and assist after impact causing injury, and not giving her details to an injured person.

Ms Keogh was initially refused bail and spent a night in custody. She later appeared before a bail court on November 13, where she was granted bail under strict conditions. These conditions require her to report to police weekly, have no contact with any witnesses involved in the case, and she is prohibited from driving a vehicle.
