Mandurah's beloved open art studio event is making a comeback from May 2 to 10, now operating under a fresh new identity. Formerly known as Peel Open Studios, the rebranded Mandurah Open Studios will invite the community into the creative workspaces of local artists, offering an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how art is conceived and crafted.
This year's program features 44 talented artists spread across 30 studios throughout Mandurah. Visitors can explore individual and collective exhibits, wandering through studio trails and engaging directly with the creators. The two-weekend event is designed to be self-guided, allowing attendees to tailor their experience at their own pace.
A Rare Glimpse into Mandurah's Creative Community
The event provides a unique opportunity for the public to step inside the private studios of artists, witnessing firsthand the environments where their work comes to life. From painting and sculpture to glass artistry and mixed media, the diversity of Mandurah's creative landscape will be on full display.
Returning glass artist Kim Cottrell shared his enthusiasm for participating again this year. "As an emerging artist, I approached the 2025 Peel Open Studios not really knowing where to start or what to expect," he said. "I had a great time. I welcomed 130 visitors to my home studio, made some sales and received a few commissions. The Mandurah arts community is very friendly and helpful, and on the back of that I made the decision to participate again this year in Mandurah Open Studios."
Accompanying Exhibition at Mandurah Performing Arts Centre
In addition to the studio trails, an accompanying exhibition showcasing works by the participating artists will be on display at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. This exhibition will run until the event's conclusion on May 10, providing another avenue for the public to appreciate the breadth of local talent.
Mandurah Mayor Amber Kearns praised the event as a celebration of the city's creative spirit. "What I find most exciting about Mandurah Open Studios is the generosity of our artists in sharing stewardship of their creativity with the community," she said. "That generosity helps inspire others, particularly emerging and young creatives, and allows people in our community to dream and feel motivated, while celebrating the incredible diversity of Mandurah's creative landscape."
Free and Self-Guided Experience
Mandurah Open Studios is free to attend and entirely self-guided. Visitors can plan their own studio trail, choosing which artists to visit and how much time to spend at each location. This flexibility ensures a personalised experience for every attendee.
