Perth school uses viral dance trend to enforce winter uniform

Trinity College, a private all-boys school in East Perth, has taken an unconventional approach to enforce its strict winter uniform policy by creating a dance video that taps into a popular social media trend.

Creative enforcement strategy

With the cooler months approaching, the school produced a short clip showing students dancing and strutting in their blazers, which are mandatory during winter. The video is set to The Chemical Brothers' 2015 hit "Go," a track featured in a memorable dance scene from Netflix's adventure thriller Apex.

The school shared the video on social media on Monday with the caption: "FRITZ BLAZER BLITZ. Blazers on, ties tightened and shirts tucked in. The winter uniform is back in full force. A reminder that students are expected to wear their blazer to and from school and to PCG as part of our College uniform standards. Safe to say these students understood the assignment."

Video highlights

The clip opens with the message: "Blazers are back ... and more in style than ever." One student demonstrates flexibility by performing the splits while fully dressed in the winter uniform. The video concludes with a display of "mogging," a Gen Z term for attempting to physically impose one's attractiveness, before the teens walk arm-in-arm, seemingly bonding over their shared appreciation for the uniform.

The tailored approach resonated with viewers. Suit Vault commented that the look was "elite." One person wrote, "That first guy is absolutely eating omg," while another referred to the student models as "divas."

Trinity College's creative method has sparked conversation about how schools can communicate rules in a language that resonates with teenagers, blending modern trends with traditional expectations.
