Perth Braces for Weekend Traffic Chaos as BBL Final and Stage Show Collide

Burswood is expected to face severe congestion this weekend as two major events draw large crowds. The BBL cricket final at Optus Stadium and the debut of the stage show Now You See Me Live at Crown Theatre are set to cause significant traffic delays on Sunday.

Ticketmaster has emailed an alert to attendees of Now You See Me Live, warning of road closures and heavy congestion. The email advises attendees to factor in extra travel time, consider ride share options, and depart early to avoid missing the show. Lockout periods will apply for latecomers, who may not be seated until the interval or may be placed in alternate seats.

The congestion is largely driven by the BBL final, where the Perth Scorchers will face their opponent. The first allocation of tickets sold out in a record 34 minutes, and the club aims to surpass its record home crowd of 53,886 from the 2023 decider.

Now You See Me Live, based on the hit films, runs from January 23 to February 1 at Crown Theatre. The production features an international cast, including Italian escapologist Andrew Basso, British magician Matthew Pomeroy, Spain's Pablo Canovas, and Canadian newcomer Lester. Lester described the show as a high-energy spectacle with surprises and big emotions, suitable for all ages.
