Canning Vale Easter Egg Hunt Adds Fitness Twist to Community Fun

This Easter Saturday, the Canning Vale community will experience a unique twist on the traditional egg hunt, blending chocolate rewards with physical activity to encourage movement and social interaction. Local 24/7 gym Jetts Canning Vale South is organising the event, set to take over Alexandria Park from 9am to 10am, offering families a fun and engaging way to celebrate the holiday.

More Than Just Chocolate: A Movement-Focused Event

Instead of simply hunting for chocolate treats, children and their families will search for plastic eggs hidden throughout Alexandria Park. Inside each egg, participants will find a physical activity or movement challenge that must be completed before claiming their sweet reward. Challenges include hopping, push-ups, squats, and other exercises designed to engage muscles that kids may not typically use in their daily routines.

Upon completing a challenge, participants can return to a central point to exchange their egg for classic chocolate, ensuring the environment stays clean while promoting a sense of achievement. Jetts club manager Kristie Holland emphasised the event's dual purpose: "Many children today spend significant time gaming on devices or watching TV, or they come from families that may not fully understand the benefits of being outdoors and active," she said. "This event offers a positive, active alternative, helping children enjoy movement in a fun, social, and safe setting."

Building Community Connections Through Activity

Beyond physical fitness, the egg hunt aims to strengthen local community bonds by encouraging face-to-face interactions in a relaxed outdoor environment. Ms Holland highlighted the broader impact: "Bringing families together in a relaxed outdoor environment creates opportunities for neighbours to meet, build relationships, and foster a stronger sense of belonging." As a community-focused gym, Jetts sees this event as an extension of their mission to promote daily movement beyond their walls, breaking down barriers and making activity accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Attendees are encouraged to register their interest online to participate in this innovative community gathering. The event underscores a growing trend towards integrating health and wellness into traditional celebrations, providing a model for other communities to follow.
