Telethon's Giving Celebration Breakfast at Crown Perth Honors 147 Beneficiaries
Hundreds of attendees packed out Crown Perth on Wednesday morning to honor Telethon's 147 beneficiaries for the year 2026. The event, known as the Giving Celebration breakfast, drew a crowd of approximately 750 people who came together to recognize the vital work supported by Telethon's fundraising efforts.
Moving Stories Highlight Impact of Donations
The audience heard deeply moving stories from the community, illustrating how donations to Telethon make a significant difference in the lives of sick children in Western Australia who need it most. One particularly poignant account came from Preeti Raghwami, who shared her experience of losing her daughter Ziya to mitochondrial disease, a life-limiting condition. These personal narratives underscored the real-world impact of charitable contributions.
Dignitaries and Little Telethon Stars Attend
Representatives from each of the 147 beneficiaries were present at the celebrations, alongside notable dignitaries including Telethon trustee Kerry Stokes AC, Telethon chairman Richard Goyder, and Premier Roger Cook. Adding to the special occasion, little Telethon stars Paige McIllree, Xavier Summers, Jordan Blair, and Izzy Miller each made an appearance on stage, bringing joy and inspiration to the event.
Record-Breaking Funds to Support Programs and Equipment
The record $90.16 million raised at the 2025 Telethon will fund an extensive array of initiatives, including 199 programs, 3044 pieces of equipment, 38 research grants, and an additional 60 equipment grants. This substantial funding is set to enhance healthcare, research, and support services for children across Western Australia, demonstrating Telethon's ongoing commitment to making a positive difference.
The breakfast served as a powerful reminder of the community's generosity and the critical role Telethon plays in supporting vulnerable children and their families.
