Kayla Itsines Reclaims Full Control of Sweat Fitness App in Landmark Move
Australian fitness icon Kayla Itsines has made a stunning announcement, revealing she has become the sole owner of the globally renowned Sweat fitness app. The 34-year-old entrepreneur shared the news on social media, describing the development as "surreal" and marking a significant new chapter for the women-focused platform.
A Dream Realized for Women-Led Business
In an emotional video posted to Instagram, Itsines told her more than 15 million followers: "I'm SO proud to announce that as of today I am the sole owner of @sweat. I cannot believe I am saying this... it feels so surreal." She emphasized that having Sweat solely run by a woman had always been a personal goal, stating: "That means more to me than anyone will ever know."
From Bikini Body Guide to Multi-Million Dollar Empire
Itsines first rose to prominence over a decade ago with her Bikini Body Guide ebook before co-founding Sweat with then-fiancé Tobi Pearce in 2015. The workout and meal planning app has grown to boast more than one million active monthly users, establishing itself as a powerhouse in the digital fitness space.
The business journey took a major turn six years after its founding when Itsines and Pearce sold Sweat to US company iFIT. While initial reports suggested a $400 million deal, the actual transaction was later confirmed to be $195 million.
Celebrations and Business Acumen
The announcement sparked celebrations across social media, with fellow influencers and family members offering congratulations. Itsines' sister Leah, a cooking entrepreneur, commented: "FINALLY. So ready for this," while Perth-based influencer Gabi Cross expressed being "SO proud of you girl!!!"
Itsines' business savvy extends far beyond the fitness app. In a recent interview, she revealed a diverse portfolio including:
- Commercial real estate investments
- Petrol stations and medical centers
- Residential property holdings
- Supplement industry ventures
Financial Success and Personal Milestones
The Greek-Australian entrepreneur's financial achievements are equally impressive. In 2024, she ranked number 34 on the Australian Financial Review's Young Rich List with an estimated worth of $171 million. Recently, she invested $13 million in a luxurious Gold Coast waterfront mansion featuring:
- Five bedrooms and four bathrooms
- Tennis court and infinity pool
- Cocktail bar and wine cellar
- Built-in trampoline and marble entertaining terrace
- Private pontoon and boat shed
On the personal front, Itsines married Jae Woodroffe in December 2023, and the couple shares a young son named Jax. She also has a daughter, Arna, from her previous relationship with Pearce.
As Itsines embarks on this new chapter of sole ownership, she told followers this represents "the most exciting chapter yet" and promised it was only the beginning for the women-led fitness platform that has transformed millions of lives worldwide.
