Family Mourns Loss of Cheeky, Adventurous Little Girl Eva-Jean Taylor
Eva-Jean Taylor was a much-wanted child, brought into the world by her parents, Jared and Karri-Ann, after multiple cycles of IVF. However, just two and a half years after her birth, the Taylors have had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to their beloved daughter.
Eva died suddenly in her sleep in February from a suspected seizure, a loss that has left her family devastated and in mourning. Her father, Jared Taylor, described her as "pure light", emphasizing how she filled every room with her presence the moment she entered.
Remembering Eva's Vibrant Spirit
Eva was known for her cheeky and curious nature, always eager to explore and find something to laugh about. "She was adventurous and fearless in her own little way, but at the same time so gentle and full of love," Mr. Taylor shared, highlighting the duality of her spirited personality.
Born at Wollongong Hospital in August 2023, Eva was nine years younger than her big brother Kaden, whom she adored and looked up to as her role model. "She was his little shadow," Mr. Taylor said, noting the fierce bond between the siblings. Eva was a "daddy's girl", always seeking cuddles from her father, but she also shared a deep connection with her mother, Karri-Ann.
Family Life and Recent Challenges
The family lived in Albion Park until 2025, when they moved to Parkes for Mr. Taylor's job as a correctional officer. In a bid to spend more time with his family, he left corrections and took on a casual warehouse job. Tragically, just three days before Eva's sudden death, he learned he was no longer required in that position, adding to the family's hardships.
To support the Taylors during this difficult time, a family member, Lily Smith, has set up an online fundraiser. The funds aim to provide the family with space to grieve and care for Kaden, who requires medication and therapies for autism, ADHD, and epilepsy. Additionally, the money will cover Eva's funeral expenses, moving costs as the family needs to leave their home, and other daily living expenses.
Community Support and Gratitude
As of recent updates, the GoFundMe campaign has raised nearly $15,000, a testament to the generosity of the community. Mr. Taylor expressed immense gratitude, stating, "We never imagined needing to ask for help like this, but every bit of support truly lifts some of the weight we're carrying right now, and we are so incredibly grateful."
In honor of Eva's memory, Mr. Taylor suggested that people wear pink, as she loved "all things pretty and pink". More importantly, he emphasized that his little girl was deeply loved and returned that love in kind. "That's what everyone will remember most... how much love she carried in such a little body," he said, capturing the essence of her short but impactful life.
The fundraiser continues to accept donations, offering a way for the community to show support and help the Taylors navigate this profound loss.
