Dapto teen denies impersonating police officer with flashing lights

An 18-year-old Dapto teenager has pleaded not guilty to impersonating a police officer after allegedly using flashing lights to pull over unsuspecting motorists during a late-night drive in the Illawarra region.

Zenetti Lerovski, 18, was excused from appearing in Port Kembla Local Court on Wednesday, May 20, while his lawyer entered pleas on his behalf.

Lerovski denied two counts of impersonating a police officer and exercising police powers over allegations he targeted drivers in the Illawarra.

Police allege Lerovski fitted his Mitsubishi with flashing blue and red lights and used them to stop two motorists before demanding them to produce a licence.

According to court documents, Lerovski allegedly pulled over a motorist driving on the Primbee Bypass about 10.30pm on January 14.

He allegedly stopped another motorist on Cove Boulevard in Shell Cove about half an hour later, demanding to see his driver's licence and vehicle registration.

Lerovski is due to return to Port Kembla Local Court for a hearing on November 10.
