Brisbane Crime Spree: Truck Driver Bitten, Vehicles Stolen, Suspect on Run
A truck driver has been bitten by a crazed man who ripped him out of his rig on Brisbane's northside, as part of a violent crime spree that left a trail of victims and damaged vehicles. The incident began in Logan and escalated across multiple suburbs, with one alleged accomplice facing court while the primary suspect remains at large.
Chaos Unfolds from Logan to Brisbane
Police allege the chaos started around 10:30 AM on Thursday when officers spotted a white Holden Commodore travelling without number plates on Kingston Road in Woodridge. With assistance from PolAir and specialist units, authorities tracked the vehicle as it moved south to Jimboomba. There, a man allegedly abandoned the Commodore and switched to a white Mitsubishi Pajero, which had been reported stolen from Swallow Street in Inala back in October 2025.
The Pajero was then driven dangerously northward, stopping at a café in Logan Village approximately at 11:30 AM. Investigators claim that two men approached a 72-year-old woman in her red Mazda 3, forcibly removed her from the car, and stole it. The woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries during the ordeal.
Series of Crashes and Arrests
As the pair fled in the stolen Mazda, it allegedly collided with multiple vehicles, including a Hyundai Tucson, a Kia Optima, and a Mazda BT-50, before continuing north. Tracked again by PolAir, the car was involved in another crash on Nudgee Road at Nudgee, this time hitting a Volkswagen Golf. Both men then fled the scene on foot.
Police arrested the passenger, 29-year-old Brock Tassone, outside a Nudgee service station. Officers were heard telling him, "You're under arrest for dangerous op." Tassone has been charged with multiple offences, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving without a licence.
Violent Encounter with Truck Driver
The second man allegedly continued the crime spree after the crash, starting by stealing another vehicle—this time a truck. The truck driver recounted the terrifying experience to 7NEWS, stating the man "started getting really aggressive, so I just tried to kick him away." He added, "He then proceeded to bite me on the arm. He was pretty much completely in the vehicle and he was telling me he was going to stab me. So, I just got out of the vehicle and let him take it."
Further Incidents and Airport Chase
The suspect then allegedly stole another car and drove to the airport, where he nearly crashed into Daryl Bertwhistle's vehicle before ploughing into a motorbike. Bertwhistle described the scene, saying, "The guy was trying to get out of the car to steal a motorbike, but he couldn't because the bike was jammed up against the door."
Bertwhistle further reported that the man drove to a carpark and approached a young woman sitting in her car. "Got into the passenger seat and then forced her to drive and told her ... I'll give you $5000 to take me to Woodridge," he said.
Ongoing Investigation
The second man remains on the run, while Tassone is in custody. Police investigations are ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information or vision related to the incidents to come forward. The spree has highlighted concerns over public safety and vehicle theft in the region.
