Scotland began their World Cup campaign with a convincing 2-0 win over Haiti in their opening Group D match on Monday. Goals from John McGinn and Lyndon Dykes sealed the victory for Steve Clarke's side, who controlled the game from start to finish.

Scotland dominated possession and created numerous chances throughout the match. The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when John McGinn fired a low shot into the bottom corner after a clever pass from Andy Robertson. The lead was doubled just before half-time when Lyndon Dykes headed home a cross from Ryan Fraser.
Haiti struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, with Scotland's defense marshaled by Kieran Tierney and Scott McTominay remaining solid. Goalkeeper Craig Gordon was rarely tested, as Haiti managed only two shots on target.
Second Half Control
In the second half, Scotland continued to press forward, but Haiti's goalkeeper Johny Placide made several good saves to keep the scoreline respectable. Despite the pressure, Scotland could not add a third goal, but the two-goal cushion was more than enough.
Steve Clarke praised his team's performance after the match: "We executed our game plan perfectly. The players were focused and disciplined. It's a great start to the tournament."
Scotland now look ahead to their next group match against Brazil, while Haiti will face South Korea in a must-win game.
