Eagles 2006 Premiership Heroes Reunite 20 Years On

West Coast Eagles' heroes from the 2006 premiership gathered on Friday night, marking two decades since one of the most memorable grand final victories in AFL history. The club hosted a black-tie gala at Crown Perth to celebrate its third premiership flag, won at the MCG on that historic day.

Reunion of Champions

John Worsfold, who coached the Eagles to that famous win and has since returned as the club's head of football, was joined by nearly all 22 players who took part in the match. The team had defeated Sydney by a single point in a thrilling decider, avenging their loss to the Swans in the 2005 grand final.

Among the attendees were superstar midfielders Chris Judd and Ben Cousins. Both are set to sit down for an exclusive interview on 7NEWS this Sunday, where they will share memories of their remarkable run of success and the roles they played in it.

Weekend Celebrations

The premiership celebrations will continue during West Coast's clash with Richmond at Optus Stadium today. Players from the 2006 flag team will form a guard of honour to welcome the current side onto the ground before the game. At half-time, Eagles fans will have the chance to show their appreciation as the premiership players complete a lap of honour.

The reunion brought together not only the players but also their families, with partners and children joining the festivities. The event was a chance to relive the glory of that season and the unforgettable grand final victory that still resonates with Eagles supporters.
