North Queensland Cowboys young gun Jaxon Purdue has laid his State of Origin ambitions bare after being snubbed by the Queensland Maroons. The 20-year-old playmaker, who has been a standout for the Cowboys this season, revealed his disappointment at missing out on selection but vowed to use it as motivation.
Purdues Origin Aspirations
Purdue, who has been earmarked as a future Maroons star, admitted that representing Queensland is a major goal. "It's always been a dream of mine to play State of Origin," he said. "Being overlooked this year was tough, but it's given me extra fire to work harder and prove I belong at that level."
Maroons Snub Stings
The young halfback was widely tipped to be included in the Maroons squad for the 2024 series but was ultimately left out. Coach Billy Slater opted for more experienced options, leaving Purdue on the sidelines. "I won't lie, it stung a bit," Purdue admitted. "But I respect the decision and I know I have to keep improving."
