An eight-year-old Adelaide boy, Xavier Pudovkin, is facing his fourth relapse of neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Diagnosed at age three, he has spent more than half his life undergoing treatment.
Xavier is currently receiving radiation therapy, attending hospital in the mornings before going to school. His mother, Danielle Pudovkin, described him as a fighter who remains positive despite the challenges.
The Houghton District footy club rallied for Xavier, with Year 12 students Luke Hayter and Oliver Peck organizing a community round to raise funds. Despite wet weather, supporters attended raffles and stalls, raising over $7,000 in one day for his treatment.
Half of the family recently traveled to the United States, where life-saving treatment is available, but each trip costs tens of thousands of dollars. The community's support has been crucial, with Danielle expressing gratitude for their embrace.
