Fatal Ambush in Ascot Vale

A Melbourne boxer with ties to the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang has been fatally shot in an ambush in Ascot Vale. Hussein Dehaini, known as 'Skinny', was gunned down just after midnight on Mount Alexander Road. He managed to stagger approximately 100 metres in a desperate search for help before collapsing.

Local residents reported hearing two gunshots around 12:10 am. One witness told 7NEWS: "Just two gunshots at about 12.10 and then my son rang me from the other room just to say that he heard them as well and he wanted his girlfriend not to leave because he was worried."

Crime Scene Investigation

Detectives spent the night and most of Sunday at the scene, with evidence markers tracing a trail of blood stretching around 100 metres. Residents expressed shock and fear. "I am quite terrified of this experience. It's terrible," one local said. Another added: "We feel like it should be a safe neighbourhood so yeah, it's very disconcerting."

Victim's Background

Hussein Dehaini was a professional boxer who remained undefeated in 11 bouts from 2014 to 2019. However, he was known to police for his association with the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang. In 2023, he was arrested as part of an Echo Taskforce investigation and charged with firearm possession.

Details of the Shooting

Dehaini was shot in front of a vacant business before stumbling across the road in front of a Woolworths store, where paramedics picked him up. He later died in hospital. The shooter reportedly jumped into a getaway car last seen fleeing down North Street.

Police are continuing their investigation and urge anyone with information to come forward.
