Shire of Murray Opens Grants for Community Groups and Non-Profits

The Shire of Murray has called on community sporting groups and non-profit organisations to apply for its grants and funding programs. Three funding streams are available, focusing on initiatives that meet community needs and align with the council plan and strategic priorities.

Community Facility Fund

The community facility fund offers up to $20,000 to help Murray not-for-profit organisations with upgrades, extensions, or construction of well-planned sport, recreation, and community facilities. Applications are open now, with project brief submissions due by Monday, August 1.

Community Assistance Partnership Fund

The community assistance partnership fund, a collaboration between Alcoa and the Shire of Murray, provides up to $3,000 for Murray not-for-profit organisations to develop community-focused projects. Applications open on August 1 and close on September 30.

Community Sponsorship Fund

The community sponsorship fund assists individuals with travel or accommodation expenses when representing their sport, recreation, or academic field at state, national, or international levels. Applications open in September and close at the end of the financial year, or earlier if funding is exhausted.

Shire President Douglas McLarty emphasised the importance of these funding opportunities. “The shire is proud to support local not-for-profit organisations, associations and groups — they are integral contributors to the local community and play an important role in enhancing and bolstering community spirit and pride,” he said. “Providing financial assistance helps build and strengthen organisational capacity, deliver initiatives to benefit the community or services to contribute to the vibrancy, inclusivity and health of the Murray community.”

Previous recipients include the LiveLighter Aged Care Games run by Seniors Recreation Council of WA and Pinjarra Senior High School's P&C Association, which received funding for its Alice in Wonderland production.
