Isla Fisher Turns 50: Perth Star Reflects on Single Life and Divorce Journey
Isla Fisher at 50: Perth Star on Single Life Post-Divorce

Perth-raised actress Isla Fisher has marked a significant milestone with her 50th birthday, offering fans a refreshingly honest glimpse into her life as she enters a new decade. The beloved star, known for her vibrant red hair and comedic talent, shared a playful social media post that captured her current reality with both humour and authenticity.

A Candid Birthday Reflection

"Feb 3rd: my forties conclude with a minivan, a great bra, being single, and owning inside shoes," Fisher wrote, captioning a casual car selfie where she sported a beige hoodie. This lighthearted yet revealing statement set the tone for her transition into her fifties, highlighting the relatable, everyday aspects of her life post-divorce.

The actress's reflection comes after sun-soaked New Year celebrations in Barbados with friends and family. Notably absent from these festivities was her ex-husband, comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, from whom she officially divorced in June 2025 after announcing their separation in April 2024.

Navigating Life After Divorce

Fisher has been open about the challenges and opportunities that have followed the end of her 14-year marriage. In a recent interview with New Beauty Magazine, she described the experience as "a really challenging time," while also embracing the chance for personal reinvention.

"I feel like creating a new identity after your divorce is so fun, though," Fisher explained. "You get to reflect on your values and goals, explore new interests, focus on what you want and rebuild your sense of self."

The mother-of-three, who shares daughters Olive and Elula and son Montgomery with Cohen, emphasised the importance of reconnecting with old passions and relationships that may have taken a backseat during her marriage and family-raising years.

Rediscovering Passions and Priorities

"It's a lot like that, reconnecting to maybe passions you had when you were a kid, but they fell by the wayside when you were raising a family," Fisher continued. "All the relationships that you have in your life that were not necessarily the forefront of the way that you spend your time, because you're married. Those relationships that are so supportive and brilliant and often really, really old get to retake centre stage."

The former Claremont's Methodist Ladies' College student has been focusing on self-exploration and kindness toward herself during this transitional period. "I can just give myself grace whenever I like. That's all I'm trying to do," she shared, highlighting the positive aspects that have emerged from her personal journey.

Balancing Career and Motherhood

Fisher's final year in her forties was professionally busy, featuring press tours for her roles in Now You See Me: Now You Don't and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. She also enjoyed brief deviations from acting, appearing as a magazine cover model for publications including STM, New Beauty Magazine, The Sunday Times' Style, and STM.

Now based in the UK where she spent much of her marriage, Fisher has found a new rhythm with her children as they've grown older. "Now that my kids are a bit older, I can feel a little bit less guilty for going away for a week here or a week there," she admitted. "I try to remember that I am lucky to get to travel and do these things."

As Isla Fisher embraces her fifties with honesty and optimism, her journey serves as an inspiring example of navigating major life changes while maintaining humour and self-compassion. The Perth-born star continues to captivate audiences both on screen and through her authentic approach to life's transitions.
