Northern suburbs man acquitted of child indecent dealing

A northern suburbs man accused of indecently dealing with a child has been acquitted of those charges, though he was fined over separate drug-related offences.

Acquittal in District Court

Mitchell James Logan was acquitted in relation to two counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 years old at Perth District Court in May 2025. The charges had been hanging over him for some time, but the court found him not guilty.

Bail breach charge dismissed

A count of “breach of protective bail conditions” against Mr Logan was discontinued at Joondalup Magistrate’s Court on June 6, 2024, and dismissed pursuant to Section 25. Costs of $2,904 were awarded to Mr Logan as a result of the dismissal.

Fines for drug and weapon possession

However, on the same day, Mr Logan was fined a total of $1,300 plus costs of $272.70 over three further charges. These charges were connected to an incident in Girrawheen on April 14, 2024. The offences included possession of cannabis, possession of a prohibited weapon, and possession of drug paraphernalia—specifically scales that had traces of cannabis on them.

The court imposed the fines and costs, bringing the matter to a close. Mr Logan’s legal team confirmed the outcome, noting the acquittal on the more serious charges while accepting the penalty for the drug-related matters.
